Brewing Guide MyCoffeestar Metal Filter

Brew clean, aromatic filter coffee using your MyCoffeeStar reusable metal filter, no paper filter needed.


🌡️ Water Temperature

Use water between 90–94 °C (195–202 °F)
the lighter the roast, the hotter the water.


Chemex Recipe (Standard Brew)

Coffee: 18 g
Water: 300 g
Grind size: Medium (similar to sea salt)
Total brew time: ~3 minutes


Instructions

  1. Prepare
    • Insert your MyCoffeeStar metal filter into the Chemex.
    • Rinse it briefly with hot water to preheat the glass and remove any residue.
    • Add 18 g of freshly ground coffee and place the Chemex on your scale.
  2. Bloom (0:00–0:30)
    • Start your timer and pour 50 g of water evenly over the grounds in slow, circular motions.
    • Gently swirl the Chemex so the coffee bed is evenly saturated.
    • Allow the coffee to bloom for 30 seconds.
  3. First Pour (0:30–1:30)
    • Slowly pour water in circles until the total reaches 180 g.
    • Keep the water flow steady and gentle.
  4. Second Pour (1:30–3:00)
    • Continue pouring until you reach 300 g total.
    • Swirl the Chemex lightly again to level the bed and ensure even extraction.
  5. Wait & Enjoy
    • Let all the water drain through the coffee — this should finish around 3 minutes.
    • Remove the filter, swirl the coffee, and serve immediately.

✨ Pro Tips

  • If the brew runs too fast → grind finer.
  • If it drips too slowly → grind coarser.
  • The metal filter allows more coffee oils through than paper, resulting in a fuller body and richer flavor.
